Question:

Does this scenario require antibiotics?

I'm a 66 male Asian doctor with history of CAD and PCI done. ETT normal now and normal BP. For years I have grade 1 aortic regurgitation. Aortic root dia is 42 with sclerotic aortic valves. All other cardiac parameters normal. No symptoms. I take Arorvestatin 20 mg daily. Do I need to take doxycyclinn?

Mehdi Razavi, MDHi Tariq,
If you are referring to the guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis for bacterial endocarditis, then the answer is no.  Currently the guidelines do not recommend any antibiotics unless you have had previous endocarditis or have an artificial valve. I hope this information is of help.
