Question:
Can I sit up for an echocardiogram?
I am unable to lie down for more than a couple of minutes due to a ruptured disc in my neck. My specialist has suggested he might send me for an echocardiogram. Can this test be done without me lying down? I had the EKG sitting up. Can I sit up for the echocardiogram? Thanks for any info you can provide.

This is not an ideal situation. It is sometimes possible to get an exam sitting up, but depends on the patient. You can work with the Sonographer on positions to get best possible exam. Perhaps the echo can wait.
