Question:

Is 80% EF good or dangerous?

Good afternoon doctors!!  What is a stress gated EF (ejection fraction) of 80%?  Is that good or dangerous?  I also have mild diastolic dysfunction and borderline concentric LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy).  Regards.

Answer:

by Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, Patrick Cook, MD

Patrick J. Cook, MDThis means that 80% of the blood in the heart (when it is completely full) is pumped out to the body. The % number is a bit high, but is probably normal.
