Question:

What is the treatment for pulmonary hypertension? Could it be caused by radiation damage?

submitted by Joyce from Massachusetts on 9/20/2014

Answer:

George Younis, MDby Texas Heart Institute cardiologist, George Younis, MD

Pulmonary hypertension can result from radiation induced lung damage. Treatment options for this condition are quite limited but could include vasodilators or targeted therapy specific for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Treatment is individualized and this question is best answered by the treating specialist.
