Question:
When is an operation necessary on an ectatic aorta?
submitted by Norbert on 11/19/2014
Answer:
by Texas Heart Institute cardiovascular surgeon, Denton A. Cooley, MD
Many factors determine the need for surgery on the aorta. The degree of expansion is a prominent factor. The anatomic location of the ectatic segment is also important. The decision regarding surgery should be made by a cardiovascular surgeon experienced in aortic surgery who will be familiar with the patient and his entire clinical condition.
