Texas Heart Institute Inaugurates "Boot Camp" for Echocardiography
Houston, Texas (August 3, 2010) – More than 100 attendees participated in the Texas Heart Institute (THI) at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital (SLEH) inaugural Echo Review "Boot Camp" July 16-17.
The Boot Camp, organized by THI's Continuing Medical Education Department, was designed to prepare cardiologists and cardiovascular anesthesiologists for the National Board of Echocardiography Examinations (NBE) scheduled this year for Oct. 18.
The lectures were designed as an overview of topics similar to those covered in the exam and an overview of new areas of exam focus. Also covered were more than 100 clinical case recognition samples.
The Boot Camp was under the direction of Raymond Stainback, MD Medical Director of THI's Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging department (in photo). The faculty represented numerous Texas Medical Center facilities, including Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, The Methodist Hospital, Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital. The event was cosponsored by the Greater Houston Society of Echocardiography.
