June 2013—Proud to be Awarded Silver

Texas Heart Institute's Project Heart site won SILVER in 2013. This competition — held twice each year — recognizes the nation's best digital health resources. Our winning entry, in the category of Interactive Content/Rich Media, was chosen from nearly 600 entries judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media. The Web Health Awards^SM program is organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals working in consumer health fields.

May 2013—Project Heart Named Outstanding Education Website at the Interactive Media Awards

This year, the Project Heart website was honored with yet another Interactive Media Award (IMA). In the ‘Education’ category, Project Heart was awarded an IMA Outstanding Achievement award, the second highest honor bestowed by IMA and an extremely challenging award to win. It represents a very high standard of planning, execution and overall professionalism. Congratulations to the entire Project Heart team!

April 2013—Two Horizon Interactive Awards for Project Heart

The Project Heart website is the winner of two 2012 Horizon Interactive Awards, a bronze in the Health and Human Services category and a bronze in the Training and E-Learning category. 

The Horizon Interactive Awards is a prestigious international competition recognizing outstanding achievement among interactive media producers. The competition recognizes and awards the best web sites, videos, online advertising, print media and mobile applications and is judged by a panel of industry professionals, from diverse multi-media, graphic design and marketing backgrounds.

March 2013—Happy Easter from Project Heart

Spring is in the air and Cool-E wants to remind you to make heart-healthy choices. Help Cool-E build a healthy Easter basket while discovering what fruits look like on the outside and inside. Play Cool-E’s newest Shorty “Egg-cellent.”

February 2013—New Cool-E Animated Adventures

Everyone’s favorite robot is now featured in a new seasonal animation.  Watch Cool-E get into trouble in this month’s Cool-E Shorty “Snow Robot.” Previous seasonal animations are available on the Cool-E Shorty homepage.

—Winner of Best In Class at Interactive Media Awards

The Project Heart website took yet another first place win, this time at the Interactive Media Awards (IMA). In the 'Kids' category, Project Heart was awarded Best In Class, the highest honor bestowed by the Interactive Media Awards. It represents the very best in planning, execution and overall professionalism. In order to win this award level, a site has to successfully pass through a comprehensive judging process, achieving very high marks in each judging criteria - an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each year.

We received high compliments from the judges, including this one: "This is a truly wonderful kids site. I've been reviewing it with my 4-year-old son and he's been learning tons while having fun. The site kept his interest and attention, which at his age is HUGE! The site's design, usability and, of course, content, were all great. Congrats to you and your team!"

Project Heart is challenging kids to get heart healthy by getting involved in the kitchen with the Project Heart Healthy Chef Challenge.

—Health Game Arcade Now Open

The health game arcade is now open and includes five fun online games for students. Topics covered include food groups, healthy meal choices, fitness, energy balance, vitamins, and more.

November 2012—Project Heart Wins Double Gold

After a gold medal win at the eHealth Leadership Awards, Project Heart was treated with yet another win at the Web Health Awards. The newly redesigned Project Heart website won first place in the web-based resource category, tying with the AARP website for gold.

The Web Health Awards recognize high-quality electronic health information. Texas Heart Institute is proud that Project Heart and Cool-E have been recognized as the number one online resource for health education.
