American Heart Month
Today is Go Red Day!
Please join us by wearing red and showing your support for women's heart disease awareness.
Send us your pictures for posting or post them to our Facebook page.

Dr. Stephanie CoulterEach year, the president designates February as American Heart Month to raise awareness about  heart and blood vessel diseases, and to support the essential  programs which combat it.

Heart  and vascular diseases are the No. 1 killer of women (and men),  more deadly  than all forms of cancer combined. That is why  organizations  across the country unite to raise awareness  each year of the importance of a  heart-healthy lifestyle.

I encourage  you to learn more this month:Wear Red Day

  • Go Red for Women campaign strives to  educate women to be more heart healthy.

  • The Centers for Disease Control provide a tip a day  throughout February.

  • Million Hearts® is a national initiative to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by  2017.

How  can you help yourself?

Much cardiovascular disease is preventable and controllable. A  healthy diet and regular physical activity should be at the top of your To-Do  List every day of the year. For Heart Month, here are some useful links to join with us in this effort:

How  can you help others?

And celebrate  with us!

We'd love you to share  your heart month stories, pictures and activities. We want to hear from you!

Until next time!
