Mother's Day Call to Action!
En español
A 2011 study found that nearly 7 in 10 women say they put their family’s health needs ahead of their own. While not all women are mothers, nearly 85 million of them are, and most of them are taking better care of their families than of themselves.
In honor of Mother’s Day, I appeal to all daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, fathers, spouses, partners, and friends: Please encourage the moms in your life to take better care of their hearts!
We’ve made it quick and easy for you with two free Mother's Day e-cards.
And you Moms...
I fully understand there are countless things getting in the way of taking care of your heart. You have a family, you may have a job outside of the home, and you have tons of responsibilities that often go unnoticed day in and day out. But your loved ones need you. You can’t be there for them if you’re disabled due to heart failure or a stroke, or if you die of a heart attack!
Short and sweet heart-smart tips
- Move more
- Eat less
- Follow doctor's orders
- Don't smoke
- Know your numbers
We need moms. It’s as simple as that. Celebrate Mother’s Day this year with the gift of a healthier heart to yourself or to a mother in your life.
Until next time!
